Car Shopping Saga

I Wanted it All…

This took place in December. I was taking the latter part off to visit family for Christmas, and certain models, if chosen would take at least a month to get in. This meant I didn’t have a huge amount of time to shop around. Most of my test drives were done at night, after work. It made for an interesting time for the sales reps. Let’s just say that I drive “aggressively”.

I need to state here, that I’m a hatchback kinda girl. With the boyfriend’s Honda Excrement, I no longer need to have a bigger vehicle to haul stuff around, but I still want to be able to get something largish in the back if need be. I like the flexibility a hatchback offers. I also still wanted 4 doors. Not that I take more than on passenger all that often, but I hate trying to squeeze people into a 2-door back seat when I do play chauffeur. And before I totally leave the subject of the Excrement – I will admit that it is highly functional in many respects – the hose-out interior and the fold up seats are COOL. But aside from being butt-fucking-ugly and having the aerodynamics of a BOX in the slightest crosswind (“it IS a box”), the thing that really spoils the Excrement for me is the doors.

Clearly NOBODY test drove it into a PARKING LOT and then tried to get anything out of the back using the passenger doors. Like a PERSON, for example. And heaven forefend you should try to get anything INTO it, like groceries. Pretty much everything has to be loaded in via the back hatch doors. Why, because the doors open from the center, and in the boyfriend’s older model, the front passenger has to undo his/her seatbelt to let anyone out of the back. You also have to open the front door FIRST, before you open the back – trapping the exiting vehicle occupants between the two doors in a parking lot. It’s just dumb. Dumb. DUMB.

But I digress. Back to MY car shopping.
