Vijay, you seem either chronically incapable of getting the point, or just willfully ignorant. For the sake of other readers who may be just as clueless but not as ready to post their misconceptions in this space, let me try to get the point across one last time:

1) I am pleased that the quality of commentary here is of a significantly higher caliber than that of youtube, (your commentary not withstanding).

2) Blatant ads for viagra, rape porn, and other such things may be what *you* deem to be “showing the true nature of society”, but I’m pretty sure the rest of the readership are not interested in seeing that kind of crap clutter up this space, and, more importantly, *I* am not interested in seeing it here. Nor am I interested in wasting valuable database space on that kind of garbage. These are the ONLY things I “moderate” out of the commentary threads. All other legitimate comments are posted.

3) If you don’t like the moderation delay, there is a really easy way to deal with it: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

May be you shouldn’t be bothered with the popularity at all but then why did you bother with the ‘intresting statistics’ then?

If you are really bothered about the quality of the comments then don’t you think that ‘malebag’ and ‘unclassified comments’ dont have a place in the website too? Tell me, what stuff can be posted here that will be worse than the stuff posted there for the entire existence of this website? The truth is – The kind of stuff that is posted in that is far worse than any random comment that might be posted here.

Moderation has nothing to do with site’s popularity, lack of it has. For example, site’s like youtube where there is no moderation are over the top popular. They go a long way in showing the true nature of society in changing opinion and such. You are really being a thought police in telling people what they should post and what is heresy. You are saying it has something to do with the egos of others? Some other people would like to say that it has to do with your controlling nature.

Most people post on websites because it stimulates debates. It Improves their written expression. And by seeing what is really absurd they realize what not to post or what can be posted for absurd or slapstick comic relief.
